By the Way from the Daily Camera promotes Colorado Gives Day

Tuesday, Dec. 4 is Colorado Gives Day, an initiative to increase philanthropy in Colorado through online giving. For 24 hours, donors will be able to make their charitable contributions go further at GivingFirst.org. All processing fees will be covered by the Community First Foundation, ensuring that 100 percent of donations go directly to nonprofit organizations. In addition, FirstBank will match a portion of donations with a $300,000 incentive fund.

All you have to do to make a difference is visit GivingFirst .org, select the charity of your choice and donate. There are hundreds of Colorado nonprofits from which to choose, and they are searchable by location and type.

Last year, Colorado Gives Day distributed $12.8 million to 928 nonprofits statewide. The Community First Foundation is optimistic that this year’s event will be even more successful.

If you don’t know which nonprofit to support, consider one of these local organizations: Attention Homes, Audio Information Network of Colorado, Blue Sky Bridge, BoldeReach, Boulder County CareConnect, Boulder Shelter for the Homeless, Bridge House, Center for People with Disabilities, Community Food Share, Emergency Family Assistance Association, Imagine!, Mental Health Partners, Mother House, Moving to End Sexual Assault, OUR Center, Safe Shelter of St. Vrain Valley, Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence, Sister Carmen Community Center, The Inn Between of Longmont, Tiny Tim Center, Via or Wild Plum Center.

Thanks in advance for supporting our community.
