- School Personnel: A training on recognizing the signs of abuse, mandatory reporting laws and appropriate steps in handling a disclosure of abuse.
- Parents: A presentation on recognizing signs of abuse, how to proceed when a child discloses abuse, proactive parenting strategies, characteristics of safe homes and an orientation to the 3rd grade Children’s curriculum.
- Children: A third grade program consisting of four thirty-minute class presentations. These presentations are developmentally age-appropriate classes with an emphasis on touching rules and body safety rules, difference between secrets and surprises, identifying trust adults and the “No, Go Tell” plan. The curriculum utilizes teaching techniques including puppets, repeated review of key points, visual illustrations and handouts as well and interactive discussion. Pre and post questionnaires are utilized to assist the team in understanding current knowledge in the area and to evaluate learning.
The impact of the program will be measured through evaluations from the school staff development attendees, the parent presentation attendee and the principals. A pre and post test approach will be utilized to evaluate level of learning with the 3rd grade population.
You can be a part of providing this resource to our community schools through sponsoring a school for only $650.00. Blue Sky Bridge is able to provide this program at this rate due to additional funding revenues, utilization of trained volunteer children presenters, a volunteer education committee and contracted and part-time employees.
Blue Sky Bridge realizes that it truly takes a community to influence change. We would love to partner with your organization/business to improve the future of our children and reduce child abuse. If you are interested in sponsoring a School-based Prevention Education Program for a school or desire to support our work please contact Katie Thompson at 303.444.1388. Together, we can make a difference.
