Welcome teachers! Thank you for partnering with us to keep kids safe.
Sexual abuse prevention education may seem like a difficult and overwhelming topic to address right now. As an educator, you know students need information about their right to safety from sexual harm. Students also need to know where to get help, especially now when many are isolated from their circle of trusted adults. Blue Sky Bridge recognizes teachers do not need “one more thing” on their plate, so we have made it super easy for you.
We adapted our popular body safety lessons for kindergarten and third grades to an online environment. We have broken down the content into two lessons per week delivered for two consecutive weeks. Each lesson has a “learn”, “reinforce” and “discussion” component. Before you start the lessons, make sure you and your students are ready.
Be prepared by taking a refresher on mandated reporting (25 minutes) and watch a special video on checking in with kids during online learning (10 minutes). BVSD teachers can also use this time to send the opt out email to parents.
Set your students up for success. Just like other online lessons, the learning environment is important. Students should be in a quiet space, free of distractions. Headphones work best for the videos and allow everyone to move their own pace. Remind them before they start that you will be available for any questions, or if they want to talk. This helps establish safety.
Below is a grid with links to all the elements you need to teach the lessons. Click on any of the underlined items to access the content. This is a new program so please complete the important step of reporting back so we know how it is going. It will take less than 5 minutes.
